Last.fm Scrobbling
Muxtape now supports Last.fm scrobbling. Go to the settings page and click the “link my Last.fm account” button. After you authorize Muxtape, songs will be recorded into your Last.fm listening history just like any other app (scrobble occurs halfway through the song or after 240 seconds, whichever comes first).Cool new functionality from the guys at Muxtape. I know from experience that it’s a little more difficult to implement this than it seems. Muxtape and Hype Machine both support Last.fm scrobbling now. I think we’re entering a phase where a lot of music playing on the computer is going to shift away from the desktop and onto the web.
I know in the past few days, my listening has been split exclusively between Muxtape, Hype Machine, and now, Big Human. I realized iTunes hadn’t been open in a few days. And this is coming from a guy that has purchased over 5,000 MP3s from eMusic, Amazon, and iTunes Store.
I love discovering new music through these services, but when I want to go back and find out more about some artist that I know I listened to, but Last.fm wasn’t able to scrobble, the artist gets lost forever. I’m stoked to see the scrobbling feature being added to Muxtape, and cannot wait to see it on Big Human.
